Child Study Team
Continuing legislative and code mandates challenge local school districts with meeting timelines for completing Child Study Team evaluations. This is where the County Diagnostic Educational Consultants (CDEC) can supplement existing local district services. The ESCNJ provides Child Study Team Evaluations that identify a student's educational needs and develops an individualized education program (IEP). The IEP diagnostic evaluations are conducted by an interdisciplinary team that includes a learning disabilities teacher-consultant, a school psychologist and a school social worker. The interdisciplinary process includes, but is not limited to, student observation, information from the student's parent/guardian and classroom teachers, and individual team testing. This service also includes annual reviews and triennial evaluations of students previously classified and receiving either speech correction and/or special education services.
