To really motivate a student, “identify an activity they would walk over water to participate in,” BBLC Principal Sandy Giardino advised while appearing as a guest on an ESCNJ Better Together podcast.
“Hands down, integrating NAO Robots in our classrooms at BBLC is engaging students in a way we have never seen,” she said
Through the program students are broadening their ability to work with new technologies, and learning valuable computer coding skills, an in demand workplace competency.
"The initiative is also helping improve behavior, and student's are recognizing the value of peer to peer collaboration," said Mrs. Giardino.
Also appearing on Better Together, hosted by Coordinator of Communications David Sandler, were: Dr. Scott Taylor, a member of the ESCNJ Board of Director’s Executive Committee and Superintendent of the Highland Park School District; Mr. Gary Molenaar, ESCNJ’s Assistant Superintendent; NuView Academy Teacher Laura Cagle, and Future Foundations Academy Teacher Naomi Glassman.

Effective September 1, 2013, each school in the Educational Services Commission of New Jersey will have an Anti-Bullying Specialist and a School Climate Team to assist the school in the successful execution of the ESCNJ's harassment, intimidation, and bullying policy. The Anti-Bullying Specialist and the School Climate Team work to ensure a safe learning environment within the school setting and to foster a positive school climate.
