ESCNJ Appoints Monroe Township School Chief to its Board of Directors

PISCATAWAY, NJ - December 22, 2021 – Chari Chanley, Acting Superintendent of the Monroe Township School District, has been appointed to the Educational Services Commission of New Jersey’s (ESCNJ) Board of Directors.

Chanley has been with the Monroe district since 2003, serving as Assistant Principal and Principal of the Monroe Middle School before being promoted to Acting Superintendent this fall.

“Chari Chanley is a very welcome addition to the ESCNJ Board of Directors,” said ESCNJ Schools Superintendent Mark Finkelstein.  “I’m confident that with her educational background and enthusiasm, she will provide valuable input and assistance to further enhance the quality of education that we provide for the students at ESCNJ.”

As one of the board’s newest members and a previous adjunct professor of education courses inclusive of special education classes, Chanley looks forward to supporting ESCNJ students as they learn and achieve.

“Having a family member with special needs, I realize the importance of providing quality services and education for students with challenging disabilities,” Chanley said.  “With my background in teaching and hands-on experience working with all students, I believe my contributions will be beneficial to the students at ESCNJ.”

Chanley added that she looks forward to working with the ESCNJ administrative team and visiting the schools to see all the services they provide for students.

Before arriving in Monroe, Chanley was a Vice Principal at a school district in Florida.  She began her career as an English teacher before being promoted to supervisory roles.

Chanley holds a bachelor’s degree from New York University and graduate degrees  from Monmouth University and Florida Atlantic University. She is pursuing a doctor of education degree from Rowan University.
