Free Transition Planning Workshop

Transition workshop

Parents, general and special education teachers (9-12), and transition staff are welcome to attend a free workshop from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on April 12 at the Professional Development Academy.

 

The workshop will focus on the key factors involved in making a successful transitions after high school for students and their families.

 

"Transition planning for students with disabilities can be a challenging process and complicated journey for everyone involved," said  ALC Vice Principal Stacy Rieger, workshop coordinator.

 

Presented by the ESCNJ's Advisory Council, which Ms. Rieger Chairs, the workshop will concentrate on improving the transition process for students with disabilities as they move from school into adult life. Ms. Rieger holds a BA in Communications, an MAT in Special Education, and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

 

The workshop will feature two presentations: 

  • "Career Exploration" facilitated by NJCAN Statewide Trainer and Rutgers University Project Coordinator Ms. Joanne Hamza.

 

  • "Understanding SSI and Medicaid" facilitated by Ms. Beverly Roberts,  Director,  Mainstreaming Medical Care for The Arc of New Jersey.

 

Educators attending this free workshop are eligible for four professional development hours.
